New Goal...

Luckily I never wrote it down (or maybe I did but it is beyond forgotten at this point) because at one point I made a goal to write on this little bloggie at least once a month. HA.

New goal: write once a season (baby steps, yes I can do that), which will be far more manageable now that we're back in Utah where there are actually seasons. Although truth be told I miss Vegas. BAD.

I am grateful to be back in Utah but it has been far from a smooth transition. Nothing has worked out for us since being back. period. But I'll save for my tears for the pillow.

Anyway, Here's our update-

For my birthday Ryan and his mom and dad, all took me to the Sugarland concert!!!
I had tried to win tickets on the radio and failed so I was way excited...
And then it rained ALOT and it was freezing...

Still excited, even if I can't feel my feet

And then this happened,

And the show was awesome.

In other news, we're back in school and have since become the world's lamest couple. We live on the road between Kaysville and the U of U campus.

I am also training for my first half marathon in St. George with my mom and Ryan was able to go hunting with his dad last weekend. It's the small (and free) things we live for these days.

I also absolutely love this time of year- getting excited for the Holidays and one more semester down!

RAGNAR

The stars aligned for me to run my first "race" that was greater than a 5k.
My mom's team needed someone to fill in and I got nominated, actually Ryan got nominated but had work to do, so I got accepted as the replacement for the replacement- but whatev. It was SO. MUCH. FUN. And I was shocked because I HATE running. I could barely run 2 miles and walked at least 1 mile of my last 5k- and no worries I definitely walked a few times during my 4, 4 and 6 mile legs, but I actually really enjoyed it.
So without further ado, here are the top moments of RAGNAR 2012
  • The return to Logan- dumb I know- but I have missed that place, so many fun college memories, so it was really fun going back at 4 AM.
  • Also just the Logan to Park City trail in general- everyplace we went was beautiful!
  • LOVED all the team names and costumes and decorated cars- it's basically a two day parade and I was loving it.
  • Being in VAN 1 definitely the better van- not running in the middle of the night or middle of the day- seriously my runs were ideal- about 9 am, 8 pm, and 11 am. And the people were AWESOME- Grey and Oakley and Syd were hilarious and kept us laughing the whole trip
  • Speaking of Syd..oh how I love her- poor thing blew out her knee on her run up Avon's pass so when we got to Snow Basin for our van's down time- She took what she told us was 4 ibuprofen but actually turned out to be 3 ibuprofen and an ambien. OH. MY. I have never laughed so hard in my life. Here are the early warning signs that Syd has taken an ambien:
    • Step 1- She will be ready to have fun- this started with her spraying silly string all over everyone in the car and spraying orange glitter in my hair.
    • Step 2- She will become dizzy and laugh a lot while saying things like "This is the funniest ragnar ever!" and "I am so funny."
    • Step 3- Grey tells her to lay down in the back of the car and drink some water, which she will squeeze to make a geyser when handed to her, and refuse to drink until Grey gets a water bottle so they can toast or "laikiam" in her words.
    • Step 4- She will sing "Soldier Boy"but mostly mumbled until the Superman and HOE part
    • Step 5- She will also decide we need to find a cowboy to teach us to dance...
    • Step 6- When asked how's she's feeling she will say "I'm fine"and that "My head is just floating on a cloud and I 'm sitting on a rainbow."
    • Step 7- When asked what did you take she will attempt to count 6, no 5, no 4 ibuprofen on her fingers.
    • Step 8- Any pounding noise will result in her screaming "It's the Germans! They're coming for our food."
    • Step 9- At this point we called her husband to pick her up in Mountain Green, where she tells him she's fine and she's just being funny. And once she gets off the phone is upset at whoever told on her.
    • Step 10- Went by the hospital on her way home and she's ok. But will be waking up at 4 am the next morning to re-join the van and cheer on the rest of the team! She is awesome!
  • Having yummy mexican food in Heber City!
  • Watching all the tired, sore, sunburned, and bandaged runners cross the finish line.

The Finish Line

 Me, Sean, and Mom
Team Family! Go Cousins!
Nicknames- that's right Syd gave me a new nickname, (also good if I ever become a superhero )

A Perfect Day

Way. More. Fun. Than. Expected.
Theme Park Goers-
the other couple is pregnant and opted out of the roller coasters

A look of sheer terror
NOT loving the 20 foot Woodstock ride- we watched and laughed our butts off.

Little girl in the center was my favorite. She had THE biggest frown I've ever seen!

Camp Snoopy

The wind seeker- I. was. terrified.
Nauseating swings up 300 and some odd feet in the air.
Not my favorite.

After riding EVERY roller coaster in the park, we headed to the beach.

LOVED it!

Love HIM.

The day after finals..I can't believe that was almost a month ago...we drove to California with some of our best friends from law school. At the beginning of the trip we all decided due to our lack of preparation it would either be awesome or so awful that it would make a hilarious story one day. I am happy to report it was the first option. It was PERFECT, everything I had hoped for- for a bunch of indecisive and totally lax people we pulled it off amazingly well.

We started the trip at the greatest Hawaiian restaurant- complete with live ukelele music. Perfect. Then all 6 of us stayed in a hotel room with 2 queens- we were prepared to sleep on the floor, but actually had a fold out couch as well. Perfect. After a continental breakfast we hopped on a shuttle to the theme park, which was honestly about 2 blocks down the street from us. Perfect. We were within walking distance. So, we got there before the park even opened, along with at least 8 different groups of student groups- really missed the boat on the matching t-shirt dress code. But got to run with the mass of kids through the gates when the park opened and ride the longest, most intense roller coaster I have ever ridden on the front row! Perfect.

I was like a giddy school girl at the theme park, I loved every minute. I had forgotten how much I love roller coasters- even and especially the old wooden ones. It was perma-grin central for me. AND headache central for Ryan :) After literally riding every roller coaster in the park and having a corn dog (AKA perfect teem park lunch.) we went to the beach- freezing and windy but still made the day that much better to see it! We ended the day with Thai food- our favorite. The perfect ending to the hardest school year of our lives!

We are now second year law students! And looking forward to summer of school, work, and playing the sun. Next destination- Lake Powell...after a lot of summer school...

Bursting the bubble

I hate to burst everyone's bubble because there are a LOT of people that think they have the greatest husband in the world. but. they are wrong. It's me. I have the best husband in the whole world.

He is:
my best friend
my biggest fan
always in my corner
my dream guy
my greatest support
my shoulder to cry on
my best date
my advice giver
my pep talk giver
my planner
my fun guy
my perfect balance
my life coach
my motivation
my love of a lifetime
my favorite cuddlier
my everything
and
the only reason I am here right now, becoming more than I ever dreamed for myself.

He is seriously the best.

Happy 25th Birthday Ry!
i love you
more than i could ever tell you.

P.S. Sorry your birthday consisted of 12 hours in the library...but I am so happy we are in this together.

Happy Valen-birth-sary!!!

February has been a month of celebration.

We celebrated our anniversary on Superbowl Sunday by having a weekend date night at PF Chang's on Friday and Macaroni Grill on Saturday....my husband knows me and knows that I LOVE food!
We also went to Hoover Dam, which he thought was THE coolest! We even threw pennies off the dam for good luck. AND Sunday we, of course, went to a Super Bowl party at a friend's here in Vegas...it was quite the weekend and I loved every minute of it!
(Thanks Mom and Dad for all the gift cards- this weekend could not have happened to the extent it did without you!)

We also were lucky enough to have family visit. Nate, Kayla, baby Lexi and Mom and Dad came down for a weekend. It was so much fun to see them!

Then, we celebrated Valentine's by what else..getting food! This time at Carrabba's Italian grill.

And for the big finale, we went to Utah for President's day weekend to help my mom celebrate turning the big 5-0! And she doesn't look a day over 29 ;) We had a fabulous weekend which included seeing my mom's side of the family and the Parade of Homes in St. George ( loved it! and I may or may not have found my dream house..), eating the most delicious Thai food (I do NOT wonder where I get my love of food) and went up north to see Grandma Raelene and Bill and celebrate Mom's REAL birthday at home with 200+ balloons craftily fashioned into an arch by Christy Marie. Ry also got to spend some real quality time with the second love of his life...his truck, which is primed and ready for paint!

Thanks for the good times Utah!

See you in March for Spring Break! :)

2 years later...

We celebrated 2 years together as of SuperBowl Sunday!

I can't believe how life has changed in 2 short years- some things we've done:
  • received our bachelor's degrees from Utah State...hey aggies all the way!
  • I got my first full-time job, he kept working 2-3 jobs at a time while in school
  • studied our brains out and took that stupid LSAT 3 times
  • got accepted to law school at the Boyd School of Law, Las Vegas
  • moved for the 3rd time since we were married to Las Vegas, NV...hopefully to stay awhile
  • sent 2 brothers on missions- one in Korea, one in Preu
  • welcomed one new niece to the family..with another niece and nephew on the way!
  • survived our first semester of law school with pretty impressive grades..if I do say so myself
  • went on unforgettable trips to Hawaii, Lake Powell, and cruisin' Mexico
  • LOVED being together and looking forward to all that life may bring us
We have been so blessed- we love being in law school together and I would NOT be here without my man! He is the best husband a girl could ask for! He cleans, cooks and worries about me constantly, he is considerate and patient, understanding and loving- he tries to make me happy EVERY day. And it works. I love him more every single second.
Yep, I think I'll keep him.

Happy Anniversary Honey, I love you.

Resolved.

Can't believe it's time for New Year's Resolutions 2012!

And yes I have all have all the same generic resolutions...budget, exercise, scripture study, family night, be a better friend, don't procrastinate, and STUDY my butt off.

But, along with those hopes and goals, I am resolved to be more positive- to find real joy in my journey of law school. Over our lengthy Christmas break I read the Hunger game series which was great and "Left to Tell" which was seriously LIFE CHANGING. My favorite quote was "God is the source of all positive energy, and prayer is the best way to tap in to His power." Amen. So basically living that quote is my new year's resolution.

Once again, I have no pictures to show how wonderful our holidays were, but they were great. We were spoiled. And now have entire new wardrobes thanks to our family. We loved being home in Utah and are so very blessed. Bring on the new year!
